William Lasee "Billy The Kid"
I first started playing pool at about the age of eight because I figured it would be a challenge. With little to no support my shooting was merely self-driven. The biggest influence I had came from watching friends and acquaintances play pool. Most of my skills were developed by dedicating ten to fifteen hours a day to pool for years along with the skills I gained from watching every last detail of other pool players. This also helped me gain an edge over other players. Though I’ve played pool almost my whole life, I decided to make it my life and truly get serious about it around the age of fifteen. Around this time I won very first competition called the Junior State 9-ball where I received first place. My motivation came from my desire to be the best pool player that I could possibly be. I moved from my hometown in Milwaukee to the North Woods. Here is where my game then advanced as I played numerous masters from the Central Wisconsin area. When I turned eighteen I finally started to realize that pool was more than just a game played at the bar. From this point on pool was not only a passion, but a way of life. This realization is what made grasp the fact that I was able to compete with anyone. While struggling to be the best and establish myself people would try to knock me down by having me disqualified for being under the age of 21. Instead of this causing me to fail or give up, this just gave me the motivation to be better. After turning 21 I finally had the chance to prove myself in the North Woods by beating all major competition in the area. At this point I had gained the willpower and determination that helped me dedicate more and more of myself to pool. My first major accomplishments include the Wisconsin BCA 8-ball A division, and the Wisconsin BCA 9-ball runner up came in 2003 when I was 21. These two victories not only gave me a sense of accomplishment, but drove me to get better. Up to this day I travel around and play as much pool as possible. I always put my best effort forth while in competition, and encourage others to do the same. I feel the best thing for myself or anyone else to do is to practice, and try as hard as they possibly can. I believe the greater the will of the person, the greater the results they will be rewarded with. Though I began by playing by self-motivating myself I know that my friends, and family, as well as my fans that encourage and support me are what really pushed me to succeed.
